Fall Major Show Entry Night
Posted By: Kimberly Martin   7/25/2023
We will have major show entry night for State Fair and Heart of Texas on THURSDAY AUGUST 3rd at 5:30-6:30 pm. We will have a short information meeting at 5:30 for parents and students. Four States has not posted any entry information or dates. I do not have any info for that show at this time, nor do I know which shows we will attend as a school. If you have questions about entering these major shows, please contact Mrs. Martin at kimberly.martin@wpisd.com.

Entry Night is ONLY for Junior Shows, not Open shows. You are responsible for entering open shows. Open shows are not school related absences.

Validation Tag Order Due Dates - Fall 2023
Posted By: Kimberly Martin   7/25/2023

If you want to show at a SPRING major show (Fort Worth, San Antonio, Houston, Austin etc), your animal must be STATE VALIDATED. Validation=Tag in their ear. Payment is due at the time of ordering. Cash or Check to VZCJLA.

Lambs & Goats due Friday August 18, 2023 - $15 per head. If you validated in June, no need to re-validate in the fall unless changing ownership. Need to know quantity and type of tag (market or breeding or wether dam/doe). Validation date October TBD.

**Looking into taking lambs and goats to Fort Worth Stock Show as a school group. FW is not terminal so you could take your county wether. So if you might be interested in this or the FW breeding shows, you need to order a validation tag.**

Heifers due Thursday September 14, 2023 - $25 per head. Heifers will now be tagged similar to steers. Heifers previously validated do not need to be re-validated, unless changing ownership. Heifers need registration papers in the exhibitor's name prior to the validation date in October. Validation date October TBD.

Swine validation tag orders due September 18, 2023 - $15 per tag. Validation date TBD.

Validation dates will be announced ASAP. Validation dates are required, 1 parent and exhibitor must be present to sign paperwork. There are no make-up dates for validation. This is when the county validation committee meets to tag the animal and collect DNA.

THIS IS NOT VALIDATION FOR VAN ZANDT COUNTY FAIR!

Quality Counts
Posted By: Kimberly Martin   7/25/2023

Make sure your child's Quality Counts is up to date before you turn in any entries for major shows and Van Zandt County Fair. We cannot pull kids out of class to complete this, but they are welcome to come in before/after school and lunch to work on it. If your child completed it last year but has moved up a division in grade level (Junior grade 3-5, Intermediate grades 6-8 and Senior grades 9-12), they will need to retake it. When selecting the organization, make sure to select WILLS POINT FFA and VAN ZANDT 4-H.
